| Spread over the splendid gorge over the vigorous River Mahanadi in Orissa, Satkosia Wildlife Sanctuary Orissa was founded in 1976. The nature lovers can get lots of picturesque beauty at Satkosia. Considered among the best ecosystems in India, Satkosia represents a varied flora and fauna which includes many exotic forest birds. Later in 2007, the region was declared as the Satkosia Tiger Reserve Orissa, which consists of two adjoining wildlife sanctuaries – the Satkosia Gorge Sanctuary and Baisipalli Sanctuary.
